Sustainability

We see great importance in contributing to environmental conservation efforts to ensure a greener future for our planet. We care deeply about the planet and creating a business that gives back to nature. That’s why we are thrilled to share that we are partnering with One Tree Planted/@onetreeplanted to plant a tree for every sale over $200. Trees clean our air and water, create habitat for biodiversity, contribute to our health and well being, and create jobs for social impact. We are honored to include supporting reforestation through One Tree Planted as an integral part of our business model.  One Tree Planted is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that is on a mission to make it simple for anyone to help the environment by planting trees. Their projects span the globe and are done in partnership with local communities and environmental organizations to create an impact for nature, people, and wildlife. In our dedication to sustainability, we prioritize recycling, minimizing waste, and reusing materials whenever feasible. We strive to embody the change we aspire to see in the world.

We also strive to find items in our production that are ecologically friendly. The cellulose that is used in the production of our fine art print paper is supplied by raw material that require minimal maintenance and does not need any pesticides.  The boxes we use and some of our packing materials are recyclable. Other items , like bubble pack, can be reused.

We have picked two impact programs at One Tree Planted to support.

  1. Monarch Restoration Project

Mexico is a resting place for the migration of Monarch butterflies, one of nature's most important pollinators. Reforestation will protect these critical biodiversity habitats. With your help, we will:

Create habitat for monarch butterflies, Work with indigenous communitiesReduce soil erosion & prevent landslides

This project focuses on both farmland conversion and forest restoration to improve biodiversity habitats in an essential migration corridor for numerous species, most notably the Monarch butterfly. By densely planting native species with the cooperation of local landowners and indigenous communities, we can make sure that the monarch butterfly ecosystems in Michoacán and the State of Mexico's natural beauty are restored for future generations of people and wildlife. Communities and landowners will be taught sustainable forestry practices such as proper planting techniques, sustainable harvesting, the importance of recycling and waste management, and land and plant protection. This will create jobs and opportunities for those most impacted by the project. To maximize the impact of your donation, our partner will plant native species, including Oyamel Fir, smooth-bark Mexican pine, Chihuahua pine, and Cupressus lindleyi.

2. Forest Fire Fund

SUPPORT NATURAL REGENERATION, FOSTER ECOSYSTEM  RESILIENCE, RESTORE WILDLIFE HABITAT

The Forest Fire Fund was established to support projects that expedite wildfire restoration in areas that have experienced severe fires. By assisting in the natural regeneration process, we help ensure the return of healthy, resilient, and biodiverse forests.

Forest Fires are increasing in size and intensity, and more fires every year are severely degrading natural ecosystems and making ecosystem recovery unlikely. After a severe fire, planting trees can help catalyze the natural recovery process, facilitating the return of healthy forest structure that can support a variety of life.

Severe Forest Fires induce a cascade of negative effects that compromise the integrity of ecosystems. Burned areas are highly vulnerable to future threats such as colonization by invasive species, insect and disease outbreaks, flooding and soil erosion, and future fires. Planting native trees can facilitate the return of healthy, biodiverse forests that are more resilient against future threats.

Today, forest and grassland animal and plant communities have never been more exposed to severe wildfire. Catastrophic fires induce widespread tree mortality that results in reduced biodiversity and extensive habitat loss for wildlife, including many threatened and endangered species. Our projects can facilitate the regeneration of critical habitat for the species that depend on forests.

One Tree Planted’s Forest Fire Recovery projects plant native species as part of active management strategies to reduce the susceptibility of forests to future wildfires, insect infestations, and disease outbreaks. They consider everything from the tree species chosen to the distance between trees and the exact location where trees are planted. This is to prevent invasive species from colonizing burn scars, while restoring multi-layered wildlife habitat, and increasing resilience against future fires. For example, carefully planning stand density (the amount of trees in a specific area) can help reduce the spread of pathogens and diseases, bolstering the overall resilience of the forest ecosystem.

Tree species are selected based on a range of factors, including fire resistance, climate change resilience, and species that are native to the planting area. Sometimes fast-growing species are selected to speed up natural regeneration and combat invasive species. In other cases, pioneer species that can tolerate poor conditions are introduced to help enrich the soil so more sensitive native species can return in the future. Native species are important for a variety of reasons, inc
