From the Garden to the Camera

Jamie has been gardening her entire life. Long before she picked up a camera, she was outside with her hands in the soil, tending to plants and paying close attention to the way flowers move through their seasons. When she began her photographic journey, turning that attention toward flowers felt completely natural — an extension of something she had always done.

Living near the Chicago Botanic Garden has been a defining advantage. Its lush, ever-changing landscape gave Jamie an endlessly rich subject, and its educational programs gave her a foundation — she took numerous photography classes there over the years, refining her eye and deepening her craft in one of the most beautiful settings in the Midwest.

A Practice Built Around Flowers

Today, flowers remain at the center of Jamie’s photographic practice. Whether she’s working in her own garden, visiting a local conservatory, or traveling, a botanic garden is always on the itinerary — and at least one full day with her camera. For Jamie, these visits are not optional. They are where the work happens.

Her images are made with the same care and attention she brings to the garden itself: patient, observant, and deeply attuned to light, color, and form. The result is a body of work that feels both precise and painterly — photographs that reward close looking.

The Prints

Every photograph is printed by Jamie in her home studio, allowing her to personally oversee the entire process from the original image to the finished artwork. She does not use a third-party printer or fulfillment service. Each print is produced to the highest standards using professional equipment, archival materials, and carefully selected papers chosen to complement the character of each photograph.

Jamie works in two distinct mediums, each chosen for its ability to honor the original image:

  • Giclée Prints — museum-quality archival pigment prints produced in her studio on premium fine art paper, with exceptional color fidelity and 100+ year fade resistance.

  • Emulsion Lift Prints — one-of-a-kind originals handcrafted in her studio on archival cotton paper using an alternative photographic process; no two are alike.

Because every piece passes through Jamie’s hands, she personally inspects each artwork before signing, carefully preparing it for shipment, and sending it directly to the collector. From printing and finishing to inspection and shipping, every step is handled with personal care and attention to detail.
